Spring in the Wintertime

With all that snow outside it's impossible not to be in a Winter wonderland state of mind... but somehow Spring has crept into the Garden..

Fashion goes back in time

Yesterday we had a beautiful event at the cafe for KappAhl and the launch of their Spring 2010 Vintage Stories collection. Anna-Kaisa and I got to play dress-up (with clothes from the collection, naturally) and it was such a fun event to be a part of! Here is Anna-Kaisa posing with a cute little cupcake :)


I didn't take too many pictures so luckily there were a whole bunch of ladies at the event who like to blog, so in the meanwhile you can check out their gorgeous pictures;

Today I stuck around at the cafe after my shift ended to drink tea, spy on Anna-Kaisa (whose outfit today was inspired by the 50s, for some reason...) and do a bit of paper work.

Happy Valentines Day

I have scheduled this post, because on Valentines day I will be having breakfast with some of my closest friends, later in the day we plan on going sledding because it also happens to be Laskiaissunnuntai (don't ask me to translate...sledding Sunday?) So I will be nowhere near a computer on this Sunday. Perhaps I will also let out a tiger's roar in honour of the Chinese New Year? A lot happening on this day, indeed!

Eight P.M.

Next Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday..and every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from here on forwards we will keep the cafe open until 8 pm!

So our new opening hours are;
Tue-Fri 11-20

Saturdays are reserved for our deluxe breakfast and you can reserve a table for you and your best friends for either the 10:00 or 12:00 seating at our number 044-021 6404.

And in just a few weeks we have another announcement to make regarding opening hours .. but I will wait for it to be current until I announce it :)

Philosophy over a hot cup...

Philosophy cafe will be held again today at 18:30, which means that we will lock the door after 18:30 so that the philosophers can converse and drink their brew without interruptions. The evenings are open to all and free of charge - they are held in Finnish. If you're interested in joining just show up and be on time, the topics are decided by the group in the beginning of each session. Welcome!

The next Philosophy Tuesdays will be on 9.3 and 6.4.

Pink Treats

We've been preparing some sweet, pink treats for the upcoming Valentines week!


Today a customer said our brunch made her feel happy, which in turn made me happy :)

Back to Winter Wonderland..

We've been on holiday! I took a complete break from everything related to the cafe. Sari and I traveled to a land of mangoes, monkeys and mamak stalls while Katja and her family visited the land of windmills and wooden shoes! ;)

Now we're back, and feeling good!

It was great to be back at work last week and catch up with some of you! Hopefully everyone else got to unwind during the winter holidays. We have new treats for you all, including a traditional "potato cake" (perunaleivos), which to my surprise has no potato in it - only more chocolate and richness than I care to think about..mmm :)
