Qu'elle est Belle

Our amazing French house band, the spectacular duo, our beloved Ottilie have returned to the North! And they will of course stop by the cafe to entertain us for an intimate acoustic gig! So mark the 25th Thursday in your calendars and come let their music take you to where-ever it is it will take you (far away, into some nice, magical place). Playtime is at five p.m! So 17:00, see you!

p.s. we still have a few of their cds at the cafe, so drop by and you can have Ottilie in your home anytime you want ;)

p.p.s. If our tiny little place becomes overly crowded you can still see Ottilie play at Cafe Mascot that same evening! It'll be one amazing Thursday! Tres bon! ;D

A Random Thursday Night on Kaarlenkatu 13

For the last few songs the audience got to join in with different kinds of drums, coconuts etc.. I made some noise with my tea cup, spoon, water bottle.. was good fun :) After the gig we enjoyed some pannacotta, nam! If you missed this gig then you can take a listen to the band here.

FEW played Friday night and it was spectacularly beautiful.

Hans and his guitar also visited on Thursday evening.

Hans will be back next week Thursday 4.3 at 7pm together with Taavet and his home-made bass. Come, listen and enjoy! More live music says I! If you or a friend would like to come play at the cafe then drop me a line.

Lovely Lace

One of our regular customers and friend Rinna Saramäki (together with Emmi Jormalainen and Riina Honkimäki) celebrated the publication of their new book Pitsikirja yesterday at the café.

It is a gorgeous book full of traditional & modern ideas and techniques for creating lovely lace. Lace after all does not protect you from the cold or cover you up, it's only purpose is to look beautiful<3

Fashion goes back in time

Yesterday we had a beautiful event at the cafe for KappAhl and the launch of their Spring 2010 Vintage Stories collection. Anna-Kaisa and I got to play dress-up (with clothes from the collection, naturally) and it was such a fun event to be a part of! Here is Anna-Kaisa posing with a cute little cupcake :)


I didn't take too many pictures so luckily there were a whole bunch of ladies at the event who like to blog, so in the meanwhile you can check out their gorgeous pictures;

Today I stuck around at the cafe after my shift ended to drink tea, spy on Anna-Kaisa (whose outfit today was inspired by the 50s, for some reason...) and do a bit of paper work.

Easter post

Happy Easter from Villipuutarha.


Today Villipuutarha served roast lamb with mint sauce, fresh green salad, roasted garlic cloves and for dessert chocolate eggs filled with home-made pasha, spiced coffee with vanilla milk.

Next public holidays Villipuutarha will be celebrating are Vappu and Mothers Day.

Ladies

Today we're celebrating international women's day at the cafe from 12-16. Come pamper yourself & your ladies with everything pink and lovely. Maybe join us for a relaxing women's day sauna at Arla afterwards? (you can pick up the chocolate and raspberry masks & scrubs, sauna drinks, sponge and towel, lady-priced ticket to Arla and hint of loveliness from us)
